Walk your own way in life

Useful equipment for CrossFit WOD’s

To start with CrossFit you don’t need any specific cloths or equipment. Make sure you can easily move with the cloths you are wearing so they are not limiting you in your movements. If you decide to continue (which you probably do), you can purchase some basic equipment which will make your CrossFit life better.

Jump rope

One of the essentials is a Jump Rope. You are using the jump rope to do either Single or Double Unders. Although most of the boxes have ropes you can lend, having one adjusted to your length and own preference will avoid a lot of nuisance.

Feet

You can do CrossFit WOD’s on your trainers or running shoes. But there are specific shoes designed for CrossFit. Especially when you start doing for example Rope climbs your shoes will last longer with those. There are three main brands that produce those shoes, Nike Metcon, Reebok and Nobull. I recently decided to change from using running shoes to start using Reebok’s Nano X1. A change I should have done when I started with CrossFit. Those shoes give a good combination of stability while lifting and comfort during other CrossFit exercises.

Knee

To protect your lower part of your body during lunge steps and rope climbs, with Knee Sleeves you can focus on your performance instead of focus on avoiding pain.

Hands

To protect your hands against bloody blisters you can use Grips and Sport Tape when starting exercises on rigs, rings, dumbells and barbells. I first used grips with finger holes which are fine for workouts with barbell, dumbells and kettlebells. But for every movement on the rack or rings, grips without finger holes are much better. I bought a pair from Zeus Fitness recently.

Abs

To perform CrossFit WOD’s at home or during your holidays, an Ab Mat can be useful and an Ab Wheel will help you to work on your core.

Mobility

To improve your mobility and training specific strenght, Power Bands are very useful.

Massage

To get some relief from muscle strain next to using Magnesium you can use a Foam Roller or a Massage Ball.
